EDF Energy’s price changes will affect millions of customers, says Citizens Advice
Citizens Advice has responded to news that EDF Energy will reduce its gas price by 5.2% in January but raise electricity bills by 8.4% in March. The change means EDF Energy dual fuel customers will pay 1.2% more a year on their energy bills.
Gillian Guy, Chief Executive of Citizens Advice, said:
"EDF Energy’s decision to change its gas and electricity prices will have a big impact on people’s bills.
"Cuts to the gas price will result in welcome savings for customers who use EDF Energy to heat their homes. But for millions on the supplier’s electricity and dual fuel tariffs energy bills will go up and financial pressure will increase.
"EDF Energy’s move to bring forward its price cap for people on gas prepayment meters offers welcome protection for these customers.
"People affected by the electricity price rise should check whether they could save money on their energy bills by switching to a cheaper deal. Citizens Advice’s price comparison tool can help people compare prices or their nearest Citizens Advice can help."
