About us

We’re a thriving advice organisation that is part of the national Citizens Advice network. We provide information, advice and casework support to around 10,000 people a year. Our services are delivered by a team of around 40 paid staff and 60 volunteers. We have a typical annual turnover of £2 million and in addition to our core advice service, funded by Wandsworth Council, we have a range of projects funded by trusts, foundations, and our local Integrated Care System.

Why we need you
The Patient Welfare Advice Service provides GPs and other practice staff, including Social Prescribers with the means to ‘prescribe’ patients to a Patient Advice and Welfare intervention.
In recognising that people’s health and wellbeing are determined mostly by a range of social, economic and environmental factors, the service seeks to address people’s needs in a holistic way.

You’ll be part of team of advisers each covering one of the Wandsworth localities of Battersea, Wandle and West Wandsworth, reporting to the Project Manager. Your clients will be referred in via their GP practice. You’ll provide generalist holistic advice with a particular focus on benefits and housing but also covering a wide range of general advice issues. You’ll provide casework support where appropriate.

Our commitment to EDI
We’re passionate about promoting equity, valuing diversity and working inclusively. We welcome applications from all suitably qualified people but particularly people from Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic groups and people with disabilities, as these groups are currently under-represented in our team.

Every local Citizens Advice is a registered charity. Different application procedures are adopted by individual local Citizens Advice. Contact the relevant one as outlined in the information about this role. You should not send an application form to national Citizens Advice.

All local Citizens Advice produce their own annual report, but you can find out more about the Citizens Advice network or download the latest national Citizens Advice annual report.
