Citizens Advice Response to Ofgem’s Radio Teleswitch Service: Licence Modification Consultation
Citizens Advice welcomes Ofgem’s consultation on modifications to the Radio Teleswitch Service licence conditions. With around half a million RTS meters scheduled to be changed by June 2025, stronger regulation to compel suppliers to replace RTS meters promptly will be vital to avoid significant detriment for consumers. The RTS switch-off has long been forewarned and all parties have had more than adequate time to prepare policies and approaches to make it work. We agree that modifications need to be made to the electricity supply licence conditions to ensure that RTS consumers do not find themselves worse off after the RTS switch off. However, there are a few considerations that have been left out of the current proposal.
