Work and a regular income are vital to our sense of security. Yet we have seen rapid change in these areas. The workforce is increasingly diverse and mobile – more people now work for themselves, via agencies and with hours that vary. At Citizens Advice, we see workers and their employers struggling to balance the risks and benefits of this increasingly flexible labour market. This short report suggests changes in four key areas, based on our research and insight, that we believe could help to strike a balance between flexibility and security that benefits both workers and employers.
