Citizens Advice Dunstable are looking for a Foodbank Adviser to provide high quality information, advice and support to people accessing Dunstable Food Bank, to tackle the issues that have led to their need for emergency food support.

As a Food Bank Adviser Worker:

  • You will provide advice and support on issues including welfare benefits and debt, and additional problems such as homelessness, referring to specialist support as required.
  • You will act as a bridge between clients and the Citizens Advice team to aid engagement.
  • You will also liaise with key local agencies (foodbank, local authority, schools etc).
  • Ideally you will have some experience of support work and working with vulnerable clients.
  • You will be a highly motivated and strong team player with excellent interpersonal and organisational skills.
  • Having the ability to understand complex information; have good numeracy skills sufficient to compile accurate financial statements, calculate benefits and have effective oral and written communication skills for the purposes of negotiation and reporting.

Training can be provided on welfare benefits and other advice areas. We would also like to hear from current volunteer advisers who are looking to get into paid employment. We want people who are passionate about giving an effective service to those most in need. Demonstrating that you can engage skilfully with clients who are vulnerable and distressed, having proven skills in working in a busy environment.
