It’s been said “Find a job you enjoy doing, and you will never work a day in your life” Do you want to spend time with like minded colleagues making a purposeful difference to your local community? If so, this could be the opportunity for you…

Citizens Advice Reading (CAR) is a large busy town centre advice service that deals with in excess of 5,000 clients each year. It is also a great place to work with a positive, safe and supportive culture where everyone is there to do the best for our service users. Staffed by over 40 volunteers and 28 paid staff, the quality of the services that are provided are consistently high with CAR widely recognised as a centre for excellence.

An opportunity has now arisen for a Debt Adviser to join a Reading Borough Council funded project to provide debt advice to local residents. The Debt Adviser will interview people to understand their needs and when necessary will do a debt assessment and provide initial advice. The Debt Adviser will work closely with the Debt Caseworker and Debt Team Leader to provide appropriate next steps, including signposting, accepting and preparing the client's case for casework or referring the client for help with another issue.
