About the role

We employ around 210 people and are one of the largest and most diversely funded Local Citizens Advice within the network. We are modern, innovative and progressive aiming to provide the advice people need for the problems they face and to improve the policies and practices that affect people’s lives.

We are recruiting Trainee Generalist Advisers and have vacancies on our Energy and Welfare Benefit Teams. This is an exciting opportunity to join our teams that give consistent high quality generalist level advice. This role may be suitable for you if you have:

- At least 6 months experience of giving information/guidance to clients either within CAM or in the public/charity sector or a regulated environment such as banking/insurance

- An understanding of current issues facing disadvantaged groups in society, including fuel poverty (experience of supporting clients with these types of issues would be an advantage)

- Experience of working without close supervision and the ability to work to deadlines/manage time to ensure KPIs are achieved

- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills

- The ability to work flexibly as part of a team

We can offer comprehensive training and support to enable you to achieve competence as a Generalist Adviser within 6-12 months. Once trained, the successful applicant will be working across a range of services responsible for delivering advice on benefits, debt, employment, energy and housing both locally and regionally.

We can offer you a supportive culture within a charity setting committed to social justice. Because our people always go the extra mile to help our clients, we reward them with an attractive remuneration package with excellent terms and conditions of employment (see Job Pack for full info).
