Hull Foodbank Generalist Adviser – 37 hours per week
Based in Hull with travel to Hull based foodbank collection points (travel expenses paid).
Term – Funded initially until 31st March 2026
Salary scale: £29,560 pa pro rata. (Trainee rate: £26,068)
Desired Start Date: as soon as possible

It is the Trussell Trust’s aim to end food poverty in the UK and they recognise advice and financial inclusion as playing a key part in ensuring the financial stability of those in receipt of food parcels and those facing destitution. Trussell Trust have funded CAHER and Hull Foodbank to deliver a foodbank advice project.
We are looking for an enthusiastic adviser to provide high quality 1-1 generalist advice, support and casework on a range of issues relating to income maximisation. The project will be delivered primarily at a generalist level, with casework and follow-up where required by the client.
The post holder should have knowledge of the current law and policy in relation to welfare rights and money advice and at least 1-year experience of providing legal advice on a wide range of issues to members of the public.
The post holder will operate triage sessions at foodbanks, with follow up working being carried out at CAHER offices, over the phone or digitally. They will also support the generalist advice drop-in sessions in Hull. Referrals will be made from Hull Foodbank, with a call-back system in place.
You will have the ability to work both independently with minimum supervision, and as part of a team and to be confident using a wide range of IT systems.
We are interested in driven, passionate individuals who have a desire to help clients and are able to deliver advice in a target driven environment.
Ideally, but not essential, you will hold the Generalist Certificate in Advice Work (or equivalent).
