About the role
Citizens Advice Hull & East Riding (CAHER) is a busy, progressive and dynamic service serving a city and a large rural county. CAHER work together to make a positive difference in the lives of our clients.
Feeding Britain Adviser – 22.2 hours per week 3 days per week.
Based in Hull with travel to Hull based food pantry/community shops (travel expenses paid).
Term – Funded by Comic Relief and Sainsburys, until 31st August 2026
Salary scale: £29,560 pa pro rata.
Trainee Salary: £26,068 per annum pro rata, rising to £29,560 per annum pro rata on successful completion of traineeship.
Hybrid working policy in operation, part of your working week can be completed from home.
We are looking for an enthusiastic adviser to provide high quality 1-1 generalist advice, support and casework on a range of issues relating to income maximisation. The project will be delivered primarily at a generalist level, with casework and follow-up where required by the client.
Unless applying for a traineeship, the post holder should have knowledge of the current law and policy in relation to welfare rights and money advice and at least 1-year experience of providing legal advice on a wide range of issues to members of the public.

The post holder will operate triage sessions from 3 food pantrys/ community shops located in Hull, with follow up working being carried out at the venues, CAHER offices, over the phone or digitally.
You will have the ability to work both independently with minimum supervision, and as part of a team and to be confident using a wide range of IT systems.
We are interested in driven, passionate individuals who have a desire to help clients and are able to deliver advice in a target driven environment.
Ideally, but not essential, you will hold the Generalist Certificate in Advice Work (or equivalent).

We will be looking for the ability to meet the person specification and deliver the job to the required standards within 6 months. Full training will be offered.
